My brother stopped by to visit and I told him about the “what it is” I posted. He asked to look at the “thing”. After only a minute he said; “If I were to guess, I’d say it was for cracking pecans.”

I Googled “pecan cracker” for images and he was right! There are lots of images of a device that looks very much like the thing I have in the pantry. I guess when pecans start showing up in the markets, I pick up a bag and see how well it works.
