Road Trip !
I’m off to Chicago to pick up my next restoration project ! I’m thankful that Carl has volunteered to do some of the driving – he just realized the weather is going to suck so the “fun” factor either just went way up or way down, depending on what you decide is “fun”.
I did a quick Google directions and found it funny that when I asked for “reverse directions” I got a different route. I’ll be interested to see what Copilot Live gives us.

In case you are curious what we are headed to Chicago to pick up, it’s an antique clock.
Addendum:? Have good directions ! Having printed directions from Google, and two separate GPS’s (Copilot Live and TomTom) is not a good solution. They never agreed (argh).

Wow! The clock looks great. This is so cool. I was wondering what it looked like. Thanks for posting this. I hope you have a safe and fun trip out to pick up the clock. I look forward to seeing the developments as you restore it.
I’ve done the drive a few different ways… and I think the route it’s giving you looks (at least on the surface) to be right to me. I once did the route by going through Ontario, Canada….just for a change of scenery, but it did earn me some extra hassle from the immigration people on both sides of the line. I got to see Niagara Falls though!
Are you driving straight through, or stopping overnight either way? I stopped in Erie, PA my last drive from Boston to Chicago (admittedly, now seven years ago) but was really happy to find that Big Boy restaurants still exist in that part of the country.
We drove thru on the outbound run but the weather for the return trip looked iffy so Carl and I opted to make a run for it and do part of the drive back late on Saturday. We found a hotel in Ashtabula, Ohio. We’ll finish up the drive Sunday. Having 400 miles behind us should make Sunday easier and we’ll get back to New Hampshire at a sane hour.
