A cowboy looking for an iron horse
There are horses on the eastern shore but they are private riders or jumpers. There are no “working horses” that I have seen. And there are not many cows either. So, there is not much need for cowboys. So I was intrigued by this image when I saw it.
Of course, the “horse” is now a tractor or a combine or a piece of heavy equipment.
Perhaps it time to bring back the image of the cowboy, doing a solid day’s work for a solid day’s pay. He doesn’t need a horse, just a rugged pair of boots, a field coat, at a good hat.
There is a down side to this photo. While the image harkens back to the nostalgia for “the old west” those same rugged images were used to sell cigarettes in the 1970’s.

It also looks like a detective from a 1930′s film noir.
Good eye ! the hat is actually a fedora !
