Blogging from the Blackberry Bold
I thought I’d give the new Blackberry Bold a try as a mobile photo-blogging device. This is the first Blackberry I’ve had that includes a camera.
I’m not thrilled with the photo quality. Every picture looks a little soft. I can’t tell if the problem it the hardware, the operator, or just dirt on the lens.
As an “informational recording device” the built-in camera is OK. I have been using it for is as a note taking device. I snap a picture of food items I finish off and then I run thru the pictures when I go grocery shopping. I do the same type of thing on the farmhouse project – creating “photo post-its” to remind me of things that need to be discussed with various contractors.

Not supposed to be art quality. It is a ‘convenience camera’ to send or record information. Good for the uses you’ve mentioned. Or, for the social networking set, to send the essence of an experience which must, apparently be shared to be meaningful, or in my case today, to email a vet a picture of a piece of fence sticking in a dog so I could get some advanced first aid instructions.
Also good for snaphots at a traffic acccident, robbery, assault, or to send someone directions accompanied by a visual. Useful at the grocery store, the hardware store, or anytime shopping for or without someone else. All very useful, I think.
I think your pick looks pretty good actually. As good as my $240 point and shoot Sony camera (which does not do email or phone calls!).
Have you heard about the Pomegranate?
I’ll have to remember the medical emergency use – although I’m not sure how quickly email would get to my vet.
I had to Google the Pomegranate – until now, I always thought it was a fruit … I may still be right.
