To Carl Tyler (who guilted me into doing more with my iPod). I gave myself the iYiYi from Tivoli audio. It is one of the best “docking stereos” I have heard (and I heard a lot before finally taking the plunge and strangely enough, I did not like the sould of the iSongBook also [...]

Carl (and Peyton) took advantage of a great deal for an iPod radio setup. I really like my iYiYi but I’m curious to listen to to then Jenson AM/FM Clock Radio (which has been selling for $29.99 all over the place recently).
Here is my iYiYi on my desk. The iPod is in a lime [...]

The last stage of the metamorphosis of my grandfather’s old office desk (rescued from the real Ma Bell) is nearly done.
The first step was to clean up the desk and refinish it. From what I discovered, the desk was made from a combination of oak and/or silk wood. With 5 coats of hand rubbed [...]

I’m in the middle of what could best be described as multi-media coding. I’m working or a JSR-168 portlet for WebSphere Portal. the portlet renders graphs and tables of statistics for a cluster of Sametime 7.5 Meeting Room servers. I’m using Workplace Dashboard Framework to create the portlet and Web Charts 3D to compose [...]

I have really settled into my home office more than I have in a long time. Years ago, long before telecommuting was even mentioned in the employee benefits of most companies, I had the opportunity to work from home about 80% for a whole summer. Some might argue that working from home in the summer [...]

This is from the “payback is a b!#$%” category. You may have read Carl’s post about our recent roadtrip to Chicago to get my clock project. In it, he says of my clock …
He calls it an antique, to me it looks like the stage before a digital watch, what is it with Americans and “old” [...]

I finally received my Griffin TuneCenterPro. If any of you have heard of this thing, you may recall it was *supposed* to ship in April/June of 2006 (not 2007) !
I foolishly pre-ordered. Usually, when you pre-order a product, the company notifies you when it is finally available. Griffin figured after a year of delays, most [...]

I came across an interesting article about an alarm clock …
About 3 months ago I bought a new clock radio. Last night, I found that I needed to use the alarm for the first time. So I looked at all the buttons, took a wild guess as to how to set the alarm, and [...]

I was going to give this post some funny, thought provoking or obscure title but then realized, the task at hand is to provide a little bit of useful information. So instead, this will be plain and simple.
(For those who are way too hyper to read any further, here is the download link and the screen [...]

In doing a little reasearch for my post of video conversion for the iPod, I came across the following picture. I reminded me of Mel Brooks’ Spaceballs - specificly, Rick Moranis‘ character, Dark Helmet.
Toshiba?s ?360-degree? head mounted display
Toshiba has developed a giant full-faced helmet that weighs around three kilo and facilitates the wearer to see [...]

The latest firmware update for my iPod-5 (1.2.1) makes album artwork a valuable commodity. So, I let iTunes start to fix-up all my missing artwork from my CDs I’ve ripped over the past couple of years. (Turns out the new feature is for the “iPod Classic”, which, like Coke Classic, is newer than the “iPod” [...]

I guess I am getting fidgety without my regular dose of TV. This evening I decided to tinker with my old iPod Video (5th generation, 60GB). A group of very talented individuals have created a tool called iPodWizard that lets to customize and do theme-like things to your iPod. Next, another group of very [...]

Vowe.net posted a cool YouTube video a while back. I forwarded it to a musician friend of mine. He in turn, tracked down the artist and an album with the track on it. Moments later, it was downloading to my iPod. (iTunes is just too handy!)
I forgot about it after a few days. Shuffle [...]

Hey again. This started as a letter to a friend of mine who will be headed this way in a few weeks …
I was about to call it a night and a mash of things took place. I was brushing my teeth and thinking; “when he arrives, should I tell him that the evening news [...]
