What’s going on with bloggers ?
It would appear there is a feedback loop playing out across the blogshpere - or at least, the small part that I watch.
Every day, I engage in research via a list of very diverse blogs. I read the blog entries; pick the ones that interest me; dig out the resources that prompted the post and follow links; and dig to the original materials. I spend an hour or more each day “surfing” through the blogs and their links. I have shared with other researchers including Gartner. I’m sure the process is not unique but it is effective and gives me more than one view on topics.
Over the course of a few months, themes and developments emerge. More often than not, the themes are not evident by any single post. I don’t remember the individual posts but I do remember the ideas. As the ideas and discrete parts combine over time, the themes emerge like the picture of a puzzle as the pieces are put in there places.
I have authored a few papers on what I’ve discovered. Most have found there way into the black hole that is corporate “intellectual property”. Who knows if anything will come of them.
Lately, themes have been very slow to come into focus. I am not sure of the root cause but it seems that the blogsphere has been more quiet and less meaty than of recent past. I am no different but it leaves me wondering.
