Hors D’oeuvres for desert !

IMG_1443_cropped_small A good friend of mine often quips, “can we start with desert ?” Well, I won’t get into the benefits of starting with desert but I will give you a simple and fun option - hors d’oeuvres for desert.

The idea is to create a few different deserts and then serve them in small, bite sized portions. Your guests (or your kids) can choose to try one of each or repeat their favorite.

One example I recently made is “mini ice cream sandwiches”. Take some small cookies and some good quality ice cream. Assemble and store in your freezer. These are best if made a few days in advance as the cookies will soften just a bit and absorb and bind with the ice cream. I made some using ginger snaps and coffee ice cream <yum>.

What other flavor combinations should I try ?
