A friendly reader complained about my “spam preventer”. For the historians out there, I started this blog with no “user challenge”. It was good for readers wanting to post comments and great for spammers. In the first month I got 30 or 40 spam comments. By the end of March, I was getting thousands each month. So I caved and added one of those text-image generators. I guess I went overboard with color, 4-7 character length challenge, rotated characters, and “noise”.

I’ve simplified things - removed the color, reduced the “challenge” to 4 characters, reduced the rotation to the minimum and eliminated transparency.

I hope it makes it easier for people to comment. I like to hear from readers - whether you agree or disagree or have a funny or serious point to make - comment, comment, comment.
