Two friends who have never met
I know two friends who have never met. They live in different towns. they have different careers. They are on different paths which will likely never intersect - not because they are so different but because they are so much the same. Their paths are meandering along nearly parallel to one another. They are more or less a generation apart.
They have both been engineers at one time or another. One with computers and software, the other with recording equipment and in dark studios. They both found that life less than fulfilling.
They both have discovered and learned from the place, people, and events of Tibet and Nepal; of monks; and from looking closely where others are hardly aware.
They take care of others. They need to be reminded to take care of themselves.
They are not afraid to take a step back (or two or three). They have discovered the simple truth that just because you have moved forward to a place, does not mean it is where you need to be to move in the right direction. They might even say,
“There is no ‘getting there’. If you think you have arrived, it must not be the right destination.”
Perhaps these two friends will one day stop for coffee at a Starbucks - the same Starbucks - on the same day - at the same time of day. My guess is it could happen and they won’t even know it. … that’s cool too.

Hi Doug!
Nice to meet you. I visited your blog. Very interesting!
Such a small world. It’s possible that we could bump into each other at the Starbucks in Newburyport - My wife and I are up in that neck of the woods quite a bit.
Best,
Roy

Well, it worked - Doug meet Roy. Roy meet Doug. (BTW - it was indeed the Newburyport Starbucks that I was referencing in my postulate.)
