Morning Java (in Concentrate)
I start my day like a lot of you - with a caffeinated beverage. I never learned to drink coffee. (My unofficial servey shows the pivot point for most people was college; that was the early 80’s for me and I was drinking dew and cola then.)
A few years ago, ironically on the eve of Lotusphere, I had a huge project due and two presentations for the conference and I’m a big advocate for serious (aka real world) demos so I found myself working long hours and a few all nighters. I started drinking a poor man’s mocha. At that time, my definition was a regular cup of coffee with two packets of powdered hot chocolate (plus a little milk).
Like a true addict, my “fix” has been refined over the years until I am at my current beverage of choice.
- 3 shots of espresso
- 1 oz chocolate syrup (good quality stuff)
- 2 oz light cream (canned milk in a pinch)
(this is served cold or hot equally well)
This gives me all the flavor and “effect” of a 12-16 oz mocha from your favorite cafe’ but with as little excess water as possible !
Humorously, I considered trying to concentrate it further but I do like the fact I can sip my 5 oz glass each morning.
